Outlook 2002 Set Up
Before you start the
configuration process, make sure the program has been installed and is
running properly. Open the program and follow these instructions:
Note:
These instructions are provided to explain how to set up this product
for use with your Nu-Designs.com Web Site Hosting account. For support
of the software itself, please refer to the product's manufacturer.
Please use the User
Name and Password issued to you by Nu-Designs for these set
up examples.
To access your E-mail setup do the following:
- Select "Tools" from the menu bar, then Select "E-mail
Accounts".
- The screen below should appear. Under the "E-mail"
heading, be sure that
"Add a new E-mail account" is selected by clicking
on the appropriate circle.
Then click "Next >" button in the bottom right hand
of the window.
If you want to modify and existing E-mail account select:
"View or Change existing E-mail accounts"
- The next screen will appear, asking you to choose the type of server.
Select "POP3" by clicking on the circle next to "POP3",
and then click the "Next >" button in the bottom
right hand of the window.
- On the next screen, you will be asked for your E-mail settings:
Under "User Information"
Your Name: enter your real name here (Jane Doe)
E-mail Address: enter your E-mail address here (janedoe@mydomain.com)
Under "Server Information"
Incoming Mail Server: mail.mydomain.com
SMTP Mail Server: mail.mydomain.com
*If
you are using your dial-up/DSL providers E-mail servers, leave SMTP
server with the setting they gave you.
Under "Logon Information"
User Name: myname%mydomain.com (please
use "%" not "@"
for this step)
Password: enter your account password here.
Leave the "Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)"
box UNCHECKED.
- Click on More Settings
Select a name of your choice for this account and enter it under Mail
Account.
Set the Reply E-mail address to your E-mail address.
The Organization field is optional.

- If you are using mail.yourdomain.com as your outgoing (SMTP) mail
server, click on the Outgoing Server tab and enter the following settings:
My Outgoing server requires authentication is > Checked.
Use same settings as my incoming mail server is > Checked.
If you are using your own dial-up/DSL providers outgoing mail server
skip this step and just click OK.
- Click on the Advanced Tab
Under Server
Port Numbers:
Make sure 25 is entered into the Outgoing mail (SMTP): field.
Make sure 110 is entered into the Incoming mail (POP3): field.
Both (SSL) blocks should be UNchecked.
Under Delivery:
If you only read E-mail on ONE computer:
Make sure "Leave a copy of messages on the server" is UNchecked
so you don't go over your mailbox size allowance.
If you read E-mail on MORE THAN ONE computer:
check "Leave a copy of message on the server"
check "Remove from server after" and put 5 days
check "Remove from server when deleted from 'Deleted Items' IMPORTANT!
- You will be returned to the main accounts window
Click on the "Test Account Settings" button.
Everything should work at this point and you will receive the
"Congratulations" window shown below.
If not, go back and recheck all of your settings. If you are still getting
the error message please contact us.

- Click Close
- Click Next
- Click Finish
- Click Send/Receive in the menu bar of Outlook.
- You should receive the test message generated by the Test Account
Settings you just performed.
