Outlook Express 98 & 2000 Set Up
Before you start
the configuration process, make sure the program has been installed
and is running properly. Open the program and follow these instructions:

These instructions are provided to explain how to set up this product
for use with your Nu-Designs.com Web Site Hosting account. For support
of the software itself, please refer to the product's manufacturer.
- Go to the Tools
menu and select Services.
Click the
Services Tab:
For Outlook®
2000, go to the Tools menu, select Accounts,
then the Mail tab, then the Add button.
If Internet
E-mail is listed as an information service, highlight it and click
Properties.
If it isn't
listed, click Add, then highlight Internet E-mail and click Add.
Click OK.
- You will now see the My Mail Properties window.
In the Mail Account section enter a profile name of your choice.
This name will only be seen by you and is used by Outlook Express
to distinguish between multiple profiles.
For example: My Domain E-mail Account
Next to Name: enter your Real Name.
Next to Organization: enter your organization's name. (optional)
Next to E-mail address: enter username@yourdomain.com.
Next to Reply address: enter username@yourdomain.com.
For example: joe@sample-site.com
- Click the Servers
Tab:
Next to Incoming mail (POP3): enter mail.yourdomain.com
Next to Outgoing mail (SMTP): enter mail.yourdomain.com
Next to Account
name enter: username%yourdomain.com
*(please use "%" not "@"
for this step)
Next to Password:
enter your login password.
*You can check the Remember password box if you want the computer
to remember your password on each login.
Check the
box next to My server requires authentication.
- Click the "Settings"
button.
For Logon Information make sure that "Use same settings as incoming
mail server" option is selected.
Click OK.
- You will be returned to the My Mail Properties window.
Click the Connection Tab:
Under Connection:
If you want to dial up to the Internet manually check the following
buttons:
>Connect using my local area network (LAN).
>Connect via modem when Outlook is off-line.
If you want Outlook to dial up each time you send and receive check
this button:
>Connect using my phone line.
Under Modem:
enter your dial up phone number here if you selected, "Connect
using my phone line".
- Click
the Advanced Tab:
Under Server
Port Numbers:
Make sure 25 is entered into the Outgoing mail (SMTP): field.
Make sure 110
is entered into the Incoming mail (POP3): field. Both
(SSL) blocks should be UNCHECKED.
Under Delivery:
If you only read E-mail on ONE computer:
Make sure "Leave a copy of messages on the server" is UNCHECKED
so you don't go over your mailbox size allowance.
If you read E-mail on MORE THAN ONE computer:
check "Leave a copy of message on the server"
check "Remove from server after" and put 5 days
IMPORTANT! >
check "Remove from server when deleted from 'Deleted Items'"
Click OK
and OK again.
- Click Send/Receive in Outlook Express. At this point you
should receive a welcome message. If you get an error, recheck your
settings and try again. If you are still getting the error message
please contact us.
